About UMC Copperas Cove

Grace Methodist Church came into being on November 20, 1939 when the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church, South congregations united into one. Methodism in Copperas Cove, however, dates back to 1878 when the first Methodist services were held in the J.M. Clements home about one mile southeast of the present town site.

This congregation carried on a very active church program from its beginning. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the current building were held on October 31, 1965. Consecration services were held on June 26, 1966. The former Fellowship Hall was remodeled into classroom space and office space and a new Fellowship Hall was constructed in 1996. The sanctuary, and adult and children’s wings were remodeled in 2007-2008, in addition to all asbestos in the building being removed. Our beautiful facility is a tribute to the labors and sacrifices of a people dedicated to Christ and His church to minister more effectively in our community.

Grace currently ministers to 900+ members. Our membership consists of approximately 1/3 military, 1/3 retired military and 1/3 business people and educators from the area. Grace strives to offer ministry to people of all ages, children, youth, young adults and senior adults. We are working to fulfill God’s vision for our church by both making new disciples and helping those who are already disciples deepen their faith and commitment to God.

Our mission statement is:
In obedience to the Great Commission to “make disciples of all nations,” all members of Grace United Methodist Church, guided by the Gospel and inspired by love, will faithfully respond to the call to build God’s kingdom by accepting and reaching out to others; and in all things — glorifying God.
